What is Arestin?

Arestin is a topically applied minocycline preparation that is placed by the dentist or hygienest in a periodonatal pocket to promote healing. Sometimes it makes periodontal pockets shrink and sometimes it just suppresses inflammation for a prolonged period of time. Either way, the result is not bad and It should be stated that Arestin applications can help but they can't hurt! The treatments take about 30 seconds and are painless. In our New York dentist office, our fee is $45/application which the patients seem to feel is affordable, but usually this treatment hasn't been covered by most dental insurance plans so far.
