What do you think of Invisalign's new "proficiency requirements"?
To my mind they are unfair. Instituted mid year, if I understand them correctly, they require that dentists must start 10 cases in 2009 to maintain their certification. This is a fairly large number of cases for a general dentist to start in one year and if it is enforced it will effectively eliminate most GPs from using Invisalign. I am inviting comment from other dentists or interested parties. I have included a link to Invisalign's Proficiency requirements. What Do you think?

I am pleased to report that on Sept 30, 2009 Invisalign has ammended their proficiency requirements for 2010. According to the announcement "Doctors who do not meet the proficiency requirements for 2009 but have at least one shipped case and at least one Invisalign CE hour at the end of this year wiil be allowed to maintain their active provider status through June 30, 2010."
Further more, "doctors who qualify for the additional six month qualification period can secure their provider status for the second half of 2010 by meeting half the annual proficiency requirements( 5 shipped cases and 5 Invisalign CE hours between Jan 1 and June 30, 2010)"
Doctors will still be responsible for meeting the total annual requirements(ten shipped cases and ten Invisalign CE by end of 2010 to qualify as providers for following year
