Wow, I didn't know that there was a dentist's day. I celebrated by sleeping late this morning (my son and I stayed up late streaming season 2 of "24" on Netflix). Although I am proud to be a dentist, I was surprised to find out about Dentist's Day. I decided to do some Google research to see what I could find out about our holiday.
I found a website :www.holidayinsights.com and it had a page about March holidays (March 1 is National Pigs day!), but even they didn't have any real insight about our holiday's origin. I did find some interesting info though. Did you know that March is national peanut Month and that dentist's share their day with National Frozen Food Day?
Undeterred, I did some more research and found that Susie's Blog had in a somewhat tongue and cheek post, possibly in celebration of a visit to her dentist, had declared October 10th dentist day (Thanks Susie, I guess we have two days!). There were a number of websites mentioning Dentist's Day, but none knew who was responsible for originating our special day.
I'm not sure how I will spend the rest of my holiday, but I will have another cup of coffee. Maybe later, when my son wakes up, we'll watch season three of "24" on Netflix.

Wow, this is news to be too! I've been in the practice for 30 years now and I never knew about Dentist's Day. I wonder why none of my staff ever brought it up... :]. Glad you were able to celebrate it by sleeping in and watching Netflix.
